Small Island Big Dreams
I am a product design leader with international cachet.
I am originally from Curaçao in the Dutch Caribbean.
I enjoy solving complex business problems with creative strategy and meaningful design I am known for integrating brilliant marketing strategy with emerging technology.
I have contributed to and led product design, innovation teams and think tanks within a range of influential advertising and technology companies including; Moxie, Razorfish, Turner Sports, Oracle Social, Stanley Black & Decker and most recently Microsoft.
It is not enough that we build products that function, that are understandable and usable, we also need to build products that bring joy and excitement, pleasure and fun, and, yes, beauty to people’s lives.
Explore.
Create.
I thrive in teams looking for an additional spark that kindles innovation and creative audacity. Together we design tech solutions and experiences for the world by connecting more the people and the problems each unique social and economic reality brings to the table and are looking to solve with technology. When leading teams Futures thinking has become more and more critical as technology accelerates and affects, culture, economies, wellbeing and reality. This is how we accomplish a customer centered design sprint in a perfect world! Well, at least how it starts out on "paper". 🙂
“We had to know the right thing to build before we could build the thing right.”
Discover how customers
behave in real life.
Research + Analysis
I believe in the importance of creating a balance between the
Human Centered Design (HCD) and the Activity Centered Design(ACD).
HCD focuses in on Desirability, Feasibility and Viability
and ACD focuses specifically on having a deep understanding
of the activities that are supposed to be performed while using any product.
The following key concepts establish guidelines which help formulate important questions throughout the initial research phase. This enables us to gather highly focused insights, valuable metrics and data from stakeholders potential users, as well as observe existing user experiences.
Is it desirable?
What problem does it solve?
Is it viable?
Who will be using it?
Competitive landscape
Is it feasible?
Explore how customers
experience your product.
Prototype + Test + Iterate
After research and analysis we begin quickly prototyping to share my initial sketches and iterations with relevant stakeholders. Here is one example from a past project working on dual screen devices for a think tank brainstorm.
Create build, publish
then keep learning
Build + Test + Iterate
After prototyping testing we get to a point where once approved we can build, test adjust and iterate on the product having built on a good user-centered design process a functional and versionable styleguide and component library.
Preferably, sprinkled with a little bit of magic.
Is the problem solved?
Is it usable?
Can we love it?
